If you are suffering from insomnia you can get to sleep without the negative side effects of pharmaceutical drugs with a natural sleep aid. Not only is a natural sleep aid much safer, usually they are cheaper as well. While a prescription drug will leave you groggy and drowsy the next day, a natural sleep aid provides natural sleep, and allows you to awaken refreshed the next morning. Your natural sleep aid will also not expose you to the risk of addiction and dependency, and will not result in a strong rebound of insomnia if you discontinue use. They should always be used before considering prescription drugs; pharmaceutical sleeping pills should only be used in the most severe cases, and then it is not recommended to use them for long periods of time. Insomnia affects millions of people and the severity can range from something that is an annoyance to completely debilitating sleep deprivation, under these circumstances people use prescription drugs because it is the quickest fix; though as I demonstrated above, it is not the healthiest solution. So try a natural sleep aid and get the sleep you need without the side effects you don't.
Sleep medications are some of the most prescribed drugs, and often the most abused. Many people begin taking sleep medications to deal with insomnia but continue because they enjoy the pleasant feeling or because they are dependent on sleep medications to deal with the stresses in their lives. Other times people continue to use sleep medications just because the withdrawal symptoms are very unpleasant. The best thing to do is avoid prescription sleep medications if possible, and instead use natural remedies to cure sleep problems. There is no potential for unwanted and unexpected addiction with a natural supplement. You of course do not need to worry about side effects or overdose when taking a natural supplement, unlike pharmaceutical sleep medications. I will concede that there are people who genuinely need pharmaceutical sleep medications, but they are not the majority of people being prescribed them. Other options should be thoroughly explored before this point.
Alprazolam sounds like a delicious candy, but is actually a very powerful drug much more commonly known as Xanax. Used in the treatment of anxiety and insomnia, alprazolam can cause depression and in some cases make insomnia worse. Thankfully there are a few alternatives to using alprazolam, many available without a prescription. Natural supplements containing St. John's Wort and Valarian Root have been shown to have a great effect on anxiety and insomnia without harsh side effects. Many people do not use these in place of alprazolam because they do not give you the same "oomph" and immediate relief that prescription drugs can offer, but they can help you get a much better night's sleep. Natural supplements can not only improve both the amount of sleep you get but also the quality of sleep, whereas prescription drugs often make you go to sleep but leave you very groggy the next morning. For a much more natural sleep try natural supplements and only use prescription drugs like alprazolam in cases of serious insomnia.
